Aside from me being ridiculously early on most of the moves (chill, dude), I quite like this performance. It’s a great-looking, really fun routine! It’s only a shame the song isn’t longer.
My regular swing dance troupe in Sydney is the Harbour City Hoppers. It’s very much a developing troupe, but its good to keep my eye in, the rehearsal are fun, and I get to flip people (and sometimes be flipped). Here’s a video of one of our first performances as a full group.
Sydney has a number of different swing dance performance troupes, and for the Beach Boys’ 50th Anniversary Concert the Swing Katz got the gig of dancing for the crowds before and after the show. I don’t usually dance with the Katz, but since it was a big event and they were looking for dancers I jumped in for a few weeks. Good fun. We got our own box to watch the show afterward. (It wasn’t that great. Brian Wilson can’t sing in tune any more.)
Here’s our routine. It’s cut together from two performances, which is why I’m wearing a jacket in some shots and not in others.
